I recently put a piece of land under contract, and on it is an old shed containg and old McCormick tractor. Where do I look for a model #, serial #, or failing in this, how do I identify the beast.

I thought I'd posted this a couple days ago, but apparently I did something wrong, cause I can't find the post.

Post a picture if you can and I'm sure someone on here will be able to identify the tractor. Hal

there are lots of "old McCormick tractors" Look for any kind of metal tag maybe on the bell housing, maybe on the toolbox or engine cowl sheet. A good place to start would be the tractor photo gallery. maybe you can spot something that looks close and then we can give you hints to refine your serach.

Usually, there's a model/serial number tag on the clutch housing. If not, post back with as good of a discription as you can. Make sure to include the number of speeds in the transmission, how many cylinders the engine has and if it is a gas or a diesel, and any numbers you can find on the castings. Also try to determine if it is a row-crop, standard, or utility tractor. It would really be easy if you could post a picture. Look around in the "Tractor Photos" section and see if you can find somthing close.
