I just bought an F-12 on rubber. I want to put it on steel. I had a pair laying in the barn so I tried putting them on but they seem too tight to fit over the axle. I used the bolts to spread them but they only go so far. The inside is much smaller than the axle. They look just like the other three pairs of f12 steel wheels i have but the two slots around the hubs are shorter and there seems to be one less hump in the center of the wheel where the flat spokes rivet. Were there different types of steel wheels made for the F-12 or other tractors that used extremely similar wheels. Any help appreciated.

I agree with Mike. Those are Farmall H wheels you are trying to use.

What you probably have is a set of steel rears for a Farmall H. The early style of wheel for an H look almost exactly like F-12 rears. The only trouble is that the axle on the F-12 is larger than an H so they don't exactly fit. If you try to force them they will most likely crack at the hub. Some guys will try anyway but the results usually aren't good.
