Yesterday I removed the FEL from my 464, as soon as I disconnected the first hose the hydraulics’ started whining. The whining stops while the lift is going up but start again when the lift gets to the top. Do I have a problem? Thanks for any help.

Hi HomerBinC, Whining hydraulics usually indicates a problem. How was the loader hydraulics connected? to the remote outlets on the rear of the tractor and then the control lever for the remote is latched open so it feeds a set of spool valves, 1 for bucket and the other for loader arms?

If the above is the way the loader was connected then the remote outlet control has to be unlatched into the neutral position. The whining you hear is the hydraulic oil going thru the relief valve because the remote lever is latched open and there is nowhere for the hydraulic oil to flow.

JB2, Thanks for the response, the loader has it's own set of remotes on the side of the tractor. The leaver for the remotes on the rear of the tractor stays in the neutral position. Again thanks for the help.
