The oil is the problem. Even if it doesn't look like it's burning oil, it is. IH's six-cylinder gas engines were designed to allow a small amount of oil past the intake valve guides and into the cylinders. You absolutly must use Case-IH Low Ash oil in these engines or you will have non-stop problems with fouled plugs and burned valves. We've had our 706 gas for 32 years now, always use Low Ash, never burned a valve, probably only fouls one plug a year. Some guys burn one valve per year. It has Autolite plugs right now, 386's I think

First off change the gas and don't use 87 octain in a 706 go with the 93 this will help more than anything . second change the plugs to either C87 A/C's of 332 autolite. check the timming at full throttel for a C263 it is 22 degrees and for a 291 it is 18 degrees. Next make sure that the centricifal advanve is working and no broke springs or lose springs in the dist. and a couple drops of lite oil on the littel felt pad under the rotor.THat is some thing that is over looked on all farmalls.

I would install a set of Autolite plugs and check
the carburetor to see if it's running too rich.

You want the engine temperature to come up to operating temperature too. The tractor needs to be put under load so the engine is working, not just idling. That's what create's carbon buildup. Hal
