On my 706 the hi-lo-reverse lever will not alwys go forward to get into hi-or go back enough to get in to revers. It taks a lot of pulling back and forth to get it. 2 others has the sample trouble also. I have tried to adj. the linkage but no good. Was this a bad idea from the factory, or is there another was to adjust the shifter that I haven't tried Thank you, David

Ok lets start off with getting it set while in the nutral with the park lock in then star looking for lose linkage first the littel as i call them cub cadet tie rod ends then the headed pins down on the rod to the range shift lever and after ya got them all tighten up then it is time to pull the side cover off then the top cover off and fix or replace what all is woren in there . More the likely you have a couple broken rollers lose cam shift lever a broken pin loose key and a woren rev. shift lever and woren key and may be a broken shift fork. and a woren top cover this can be rebushed by a local machine shop but the hole must be kept in the center of the of original hole or it will not shift wright . Then after this is all fixed the ya got to address the clutch adjustment . Ya need to have 1 to 1 1/8 free traval then the transmission brake must be set this takes some help from a friend firs remove the pin on the trans brake then push the clutch pedal to the stop then loosen the clevis and hold it back and adjust till the pin will slide into the hole then release the clutch and add one turn to the clevis ( sometime it will take a couple of trys as i have had to at time add a half to a full turn to get it just wright because of ware on all the parts . Then ya got to adjust the dump valve and here again ya need help with the engine running back off the dump valve bolt about 6 or 7 turns then with the park lock ingauged push the clutch pedal all the way down to the stop and hold then turn the dump valve bolt in slowly till the oil lite goes out re lease the clutch pedal and then add one more turn to this bolt and lock the lock nut then the 706 will shift like a new one and nomore jerking on the shifter to get it in and out of gear. when done correctly it only takes two fingers to shift one .
