I am starting to work on a 1951 Super C (Serial # 122,445). What is the correct carburetor? I see on Ebay there are both Carter and Zenith. The adds say both will work. Will I experience a reduced HP if I use the wrong one?

The Zenith has an extra adjustment than the Carter. I never could get that Carter set properly. It always ran too rich.

I've never had a bit of trouble with my Carter carb.

If you don't mind me asking, what is wrong with the carburetor that came on the tractor?

It did not have one. It had been removed years before I purchased it.

I believe either one is right. Super Cs came out with two different carburetors. If you have an owner's manual I think it will show adjustment procedures for both. There should not be any reduction in HP.
