Tell if a F-20 is a duck bill? I just noticed 2 complete F-20's sitting out by the road along with bunch of other steel heading for the scrap yard. I imagine they are set up as primary color is rust and tires have pretty much rotted off. They appear to be complete as near as I can tell. Approx. value? Worth my time and effort? Thanks for your time. Matt

I really don't need them but at same time hate to pass up a good buy. I have no Idea what the owner will take for them. I should be back down that way in a few days. I may stop and take some pics. There are a lot of F-20s but the hot manifolds are good property as are factory rubber. They are worth the most as parts but narrow treads, duckbilled 39s and just plain good origionals are good too. They are easy to work on although sleeve sets are pricey. I like the old F series and Regulars. IF they are set up right they start easily without risk of broken limbs and you never have to worry about a stupid battery being dead or not charging. Worth is between two collectors. I laugh every time I hear people trying to put a worth on this old stuff. It isn't worth much but neither is a glass of water unless you are dieing of thirst. WIth old iron you have to do what makes "you" happy. I have paid way more than others would for the same box of rocks and wouldn't have some one else's garbage in my shed. Value is up to you. Anything someone else gives you is pure bunk Matt. That being said mostly complete F-20s seem bring between $100 and $3000 each end of the scale. I've never seen a truely complete F-20 sell.

Well I shall have to drive over there in the next couple of days and see if I can locate owner and offer scrap prices. Basicly that is what they are worth in current condition in my mind. Unless they are something special or rare. I hate to see them scrapped but I already have 2 other tractors tore down and in process of re-building. If any one else is interested I will take a couple of pics and try and post in the next couple of days. Matt

The steering pedistal on a duckbill is flat on top which covers a steering mechanism like an open geared Regular Farmall. A later F-20 is more rounded with a worm and pinion arraingement. Notice the "Duckbill on the front of this F-30

Well they both must be duck bills if you are talking about that flat thing that sticks off from the front like a bill cause they both have one. Nice looking tractor there. New project? Hope things are good for you. Staying busy here. Have a good day. Matt

Higher Matt, where the steering arm meets the pedistal.

Actually the rusty Duckbill is mine and the later 36 Narrow Tread is Ne Cowmans. I'm trying to talk him out of it though.

A little dark but you can see the steering is different. This is a later 36 F-30. I believe duckbills were no longer produced after mid year of 1934.

Here is a 1935 F-30 it has the round cover without the bolts in it. A F-20 is exactly the same. This came between the duckbill and the later style with bolts.
