The others are correct. However, if the shaft is grooved, you can put a speedy sleeve on, about $25, as replacing the seal may or may not solve the problem. Some pumps have a regular seal, others have an o-ring. If yours has the o-ring, you have to have the hole the shaft goes thru enlarged to accept the speedy sleeve -- I did that on mine. Best to let a machine shop do it so that it is correct. Or, there are procedures to build up the shaft. This has to be more than a simple brazing operation, and has to be one that does not get the shaft so hot so that it loses it's temper. I vote for the speedy sleeve.

Mchief, You need to get the rebuild kit for the touch control, and with that kit you will get the orings needed to rebuild the pump. The driven shaft in the pump has an oring riding on the front part of that shaft. If the shaft has a groove worn in the section, that is probablly were the hydraulic fluid is leaking back into your crankcase via thae timing cover. If that is the case, you will need to replace that shaft.

My C was doing the same thing at one point. I belive the Hydraulic pump probably just needs new seals (rebuild kits are available, usually for your local Case/IH dealer), or, like my pump, there is an issue with the shaft in the pump, where there may be a bur on it or the hole is worn and a bushing is needed. I put a kit into mine, and it worked for about 2 weeks, then it all leaked out again. We determined there is an issue with the shaft on mine, just haven't gotten it fixed yet. I pulled the gear off the pump so I didn't burn up the pump and I can still get some use out of the tractor. I am sure others will jump in here as well. Hope this helps some. Good Luck.

I had the same problem with my 100. After I replaced the main seal in the hydraulic pump the problem went away
