My grandfather worked for Internation Harvester in Rock Island/Moline, IL from about 1947 to about 1976. I want to find out which models were produced there during that time and how to find one to purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I believe most of the Farmall's were built there. Not sure about the A's, B's, C's and utility models. I worked for the IH dealer in Davenport, which is just across the Mississippi from Rock Island. Hauled quite a few 666's, 766's, 966's
1066's, 1466's, and 1566's out of the factory. Picked up a 1086 at the Rochelle, IL farm where they took the pictures for the brochures. The cab was wrapped in cardboard and paper and was the first one brought across the river into Iowa.
The 88 series tractors were also built there.

brown: I think most of the larger Farmalls were built there, all the way through 06, 56, 66 and 86 series. Little H has it up to those tractors. During my farming years I had 1 new tractor from each series from letter series through to 66 series. I remember seeing Rock Island and Moline mentioned in literature, manuals and on serial tags. Some may have been built other places as some SM were. Only one in particular I remember was an anouncment on the new 66 series engine plant at Rock Island. The rest of it is a case of having Farmalls and those names being familiar. I lived close to 2,000 miles from IL, thus was not all that familiar with mid west geography.
