I replaced the head gasket on a Farmall 706 gas, and it is leaking in the same place the other one was. All along the side of the spark plugs, any ideas?

run it for awhile and retourqe. if it doesn't stop then you gotta get the head milled flat and use aluminum paint OR copper coat on a new gasket. i did mine two years ago also and you would not believe how warped it was. it doesn't matter how big the chunk of steel is, when it gets hot enough anything will warp.

Another alternative is to use 2 headgaskets. Used this method on a 140 about 15 years ago and it has worked great, no leaks or loss of power.

I have a 706 gas that I rebuilt 2 years ago. It has the C263 in it. I had the head planed .020 to make it flat. After getting it all back together and firing it up it had an oily residue bubbling out through the head gasket. It was actually coming through head gasket, but after running it a while and getting it up to temperature it stopped bubbling and has been fine for the last 2 years.

this one is also a 263, it looks like its bubbling oil out between the block and the gasket

Have you run it up to temperature for any length of time? I ran mine up to temp for about a half an hour, shut it down and retorqued the head bolts to 105 ft lbs and then just started useing it and it quit bubbling, maybe something in those gaskets because if you look close it looks like it is coming through the fiber part of the gasket. I also bought mine from an IH dealer. Good luck, Bill

What gskt did you use a Fel-PRO?? did you use Copper Coat. Did you retoqure hot ?? did you pull it to the 95 foot lbs?? and if you are using a junk Fel Pro gskt add 5 more lbs of toqure. I have had to pull them down the the diesel spec to get them to stop leaking . Just put a 706 gasser back to gether with a victor gskt. and no leaks at 95 foot lbs. And copper coat.

Ya , i know I am not sure who is making there gskt this year one time they will be victor and the next time they are Fel- Pro. have had several differant stile of gskts. given to me for a the gassers and there are differant part no. for the gassers as i have found one company sent me a Fel Pro perma toqure that was paper on both sides as a cure for the seepage it leaked they tryed to tell me the head was warped , oooppps just had the head and block both done with a rotary broch with the counter bore recut to spec. then they tryed to tell me that the surface did not have the propper finish i spent a lot of time on the phone to fel -pro then they told me i did not know who to properly toqure a head then it was my toqure wrench fault just got it back from snap on for recal. i gave up on the fel pro line and now specifie victor.Your head may be warped a bit but if it is under .004 i would not worry about it if over that then it needs milled but ya don't have to take off .020 to clean it up ya take off just what is needed as you do not want to raise the comp up to much on these engines .

I would say something got very warm and warped or look for a crack where it is leaking..head and block... look for pitting and buy new head bolts because wretching them past torque will weaken them and break.
