The nut holding the linkage by valve cover came loose reassembled I hope correctly. Spring and metal piece was still there. Had gov. cover off and adjusted by sight. Now tractor will fire right off but when increaseing throttle a slow responce,then she surges high to low. Runs great at idle. Tractor has set all winter I"m thinkin carb, any ideas?

Warm up the engine and try readjusting the high speed mixture screw. Turn it in or out until it is running at its fastest RPM. Then turn out about 1/2 turn extra so it will not run lean while under load.
