I went ahead and rebuilt the carb today, Put everything back on and the rascal is doing the same thing, Spitting through the carb. I did put 4 new exhaust valves in it but they all seem to be working fine. The tractor has new points and coil. It is sparking fine. Magman I have not tried switching the distributer cap 180. I could have wires crossed good possibility but I put them on by looking at my A Farmall starting with The 1 on the cap and went in the firing order 1342. The distributer has not been off of the tractor. I put the points in it with it on the tractor. What do I need to do? Getting Frustrated with it. What is the best way to check the wires to be sure I did not Cross them somehow? Sorry so long of a post.

Spitting through the carb could be an intake valve not on its seat properly[tight adjustment ,bent, sticking] or bad timing, like firing when the intake vavle is still normally open.

Check the manifold gasket for leaks. Sounds like its running lean. Air leak there somewhere, and or sticking valve, broken valve spring? Magneto or distributor? If it has mag, could be in impulse mechanism. If distributor, with cap off, grab the rotor and try turning back and forth. The advance in distributor may be hanging up. Good luck. Dutch

You need to see which way the rotor turns. It should turn clockwise. That's the way your wires
should be connected. Starting with No1 plug near the radiator should be installed when the rotor is pointing to No1 in the cap. You may want to bring the engine up on the compression
stroke at TDC. You rotor should point to No1
in the cap. If this plugwire is right then check
No3 wire, then 4 and 2. If this is the case your wires are ok. Hal

You definitely have a spark/electrical problem, not a carb problem. Either it is out of time or wires crossed (see previous post) or cross sparking in the distributer cap, etc. Most likely wires crossed.
