NEED INFORMATION, LITERATURE, PARTS AND PIECES FOR THE IH "PILOT GUIDE" GUAGE. LOCATED ON THE LEFTHAND SIDE OF THE DASH. ON 450 FARMALL TRACTORS WITH THE FASTHITCH OPTION. THE DEVICE LOOKED LIKE A THERMOMETER LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH. ALLOWED THE OPERATOR TO WATCH THE INDICATOR, INSTEAD OF TURNING AROUND TO LOOK AT THE IMPLEMENT. BY COMPARING THE IMPLEMENT DEPTH READING ON THE GUAGE IWTH THE OPERATOR"S PRESET DEPTH THE IMPLEMENT COULD BE RAISED AND LOWERED FOR EVEN TILLAGE DEPTH. NEED HELP LOCATING PARTS TO PUT ONE TOGETHER AND LITERATURE ON THIS OPTION. PLEASE E-MAIL ME---rooster@grm.net--thankyou for the help with this restoration.

I've been watching eBay for 3 years for the "Tell-A-Depth" gage. The was one NOS that went for more than I wanted to pay at the time. I should have got it. The literature is easier to come by, watch on eBay for the Fast Hitch manual for the 350/450/460/560 tractors with Depth Control FH. I think that if you search the archieves you will find some posts about the subject. As I recall there is someone in Ohio that has restored a 450 to showroom condition that has information and is willing to share.

It seems like the "Tell-A Depth" gage and the original gas cap with the gas level gage are the toughest items to find. There are some gas gages of the correct lenght come up on eBay, but they usually go for around $150. I'm thinking that the "Tell-A-Depth" gage went for over $200.

If you can't find the literature, let me know, I can get a copy for you. There was a guy selling the FH lierature on a CD on eBay, but I haven't seen it for a while. You might get lucky and try some of the salvage yards like Bates, JP, and some of the others that deal in used parts. I haven't watched very close in Red Power, but sometimes you will see hard to find parts listed in there as well.

I wonder if there is enough interest to get OEM to make a replacement kit? There may be enough interest to make it worthwhile for them. They would need an original gage to go by, but I'm sure that one could be found for them to copy.

Why are you yelling? I don't know anything about the guage in question.
