Here's some pics of a local grain farmer's herd. He's headquartered about 9 mile north of us and has dang near all the available ground around us tilled up waiting for planting. As you can see, he's 100% hardcore IH and loves to use these grand old ladies for his operation. Pictured are a 1486, 1466, 1066, and a 1206. A 966 is lurking behind them all--just couldn't get it in the shot.

An interesting story about the 1206: it belonged to a fellow who owned property across the road from Mom. The 1206 languished in a barn for years neglected and unused except for a short spell a few years ago by Brother Bill for tillage at Mom's. Mr. Bullock was able to acquire the 1206 last year, went to work on it, and now the old gal is back in the fields where it belongs. Can't think of a finer home for it!

Just to reinforce the fact about being hardcore IH, not only does he begin the season's work with RED, he finishes with it, too!

I shot this pic on the second day of owning my new digicam. This opportunity is precisely why I bought the camera.

My brother told me Mr. Bullock might be short a hand or two this spring and could be looking for someone to occupy a tractor seat. I got all geeky thinking maybe doing that. But...my adult head told me, "You don't have time for that". My kid head said, "Call him". I just know if I DID help him out, everything else I've got on the ledger would go down the crapper including forsaking my regular job. Man, that would be a rip helping to run that stuff!

Too bad I am so far away, I would volunteer a day or so just to get a chance at driving that V8 monster.

You should drive the distance and volunteer anyways. Its a life altering experience. I had a friend that had one, and one day I drove by and saw they had it hooked up doing some spring tillage, so I stopped in to see if he'd let me have a stab at it. I drove it for about an hour. Wow. Thats all I can say. Born and raised on green machines and all I can say is Wow.

Hey! That tractor pulling the finisher must be a 1468, not a 1486, because he looks like he's got the DV550 V-8 engine, with those dual stacks. A fairly rare sight indeed! And a treat for the ears! If set up like original, it runs on 4 cylinders when idling, and kicks in the other 4 when you need some neck-
snapping HP.

Oops...yes, a 1468, not a 1486. I DID NOT know that about the 4 cyl then 8 cyl arrangement. All these tractors are too new to me. My experience stops after the 60 series.

The local grapevine has it that the pump has been juiced on the 1468. From the color of the stacks, this may be true.

My neighbor across the road from me clains to have some seat time with this particular 1468 before it was acquired by its current owner. My neighbor says it's the biggest fuel guzzler he's ever been around. Well...DUH! It's likely the biggest HP tractor he's ever been on--you have to put fuel IN to get HP OUT! I'll never quite understand statements like that which I hear frequently.

Mornin' Joe,

That's enough to warm an old man's soul! :>)

Some sharp tractors, those! Thanks for the peek.

I check this web site early before school at the Jr. High I teach at. I was denied access to the pictures because our sceening service deemed WWW.oldoak farmalls.com as "Pornographic". I'm not sure if this was because the term "Hardcore" was used or the people running the service have Green Tractors. I'll check out the Pic's when I get home.

If, as you surmise, the folks running the service have dandelion-colored tractors, they would for sure consider our site pornographic--we twist their noses pretty hard there!

On a serious note, it could very well be some key words we've used in the one smart-alecky paragraph on the home page--"lewd", "offensive", and "explicit"--are firing tbe internet restricted zone keys.
