Didnt have to change my 300U distributor cap when I bought it (had a new one on),but I priced a new cap today (for the heck of it) and couldnt believe what its going for.Over $20.What have you all paid, and did you find any with brass contacts (not aluminum)? I'm good for a while, but I know how quickly aluminum cap contacts burn up and corrode away.

Looks Like I better Raise my prices. I have a whole bunch of slightly used ones here. When I see that there Brass I clean them up and coat them to keep for good used ones. But I had no idea that they cost that much the last one I bought was well under $10.00 . JON

Yup, I think mine was about 16 bucks at NAPA. Don't recall, but I seem to think it was brass. Tractor's sittin' out in the middle of the VERY wet woodlot, so I ain't about to go out and check, sorry.

Strange, but NAPA's Echlin and the BWD brand (the one I checked)are sourced from the same company (Standard Motor Products),and the BWD is aluminum.Dont know why they wouldnt use brass for $20+ bucks.
Maybe its time ACCEL,Mallory or Jacobs takes up the cause and creates a HP cap? (epoxy and brass, not bakelite and aluminum).
