I had the same problem on a 330u. it was the cam in the distributor. The lob was worn and the points didn't open. Measure across lobs they should the same both ways. Jim

Very strange one lobe would wear away and not the other 3.A changeover to Pertronix electronic ignition would eliminate that potential problem.

How do you know for sure the plug is good? I have experienced brand new plugs right out of the box being no good. "especially champions"

Had 4 of 8 (car) Autolites one time mis-fire or no-fire.When you accelerated it would create backfires that sounded like a shotgun going off.One plug had spark coming from 3 different places around the porcelin, one actually made a noise when it sparked (like a sizzle),and one didnt spark at all,the other had a very weak red spark.I attributed it to the cheap nature of the department store that sold them (they probably got send 2nds),and/or somebody dropped them and screwed up the resistor or the porcelin.

Are you sure its really sparking? You could have super low compression in that cylinder and (maybe) even mechanical damage (burnt valve, stuck valve, burned piston). Its tough to fire an air/fuel mix completely unless its compressed.

I'll check the plugs that sounds more like what mine is doing may have gotten a bad plug and just took it for granted that the plugs were ok because their brand new!! thanks Paul and everyone for your advice Gene

There could be bad crimps on the ends of the plug wires, not allowing current to reach the metal end terminals. And if they are carbon resistor wires the conductor could be broken inside.
