I have a 53 super c that I pull with. after i rebuilt it i had the chance to pull one time at the end of last summer. Although i was impressed, this being my first tractor project, i still need more power. I was thinking of carb mods, elec. ignition, governor mods, etc. I seem to be limited in the performance parts department being that this is not as popular of a puller the the M's and H's. Please help. Thanks Jeff

We have 2 super C's that my wife and i pull and i have some questons, What weight class are you pulling in? Aneything less than 4000lbs classs hould be NO PROBLEM for power, Did you put in the 3 1/4 domed pistons in? Did you put in new valves in and do a 3 angle valve job? Did you Port the head and manifold? What size tires are you useing? Do any thing elese to help power on your rebild?, If you have done thes things 30Hp or more shouldnt be out of reach and fairley stock H shouldnt be either!!!

Cliff, I have pulled in the 3500, 4500, and 5500. It did pretty well in all the classes and even in 5500 i did OK against the bigger tractors(i did not finish last). I only have about 6 runs on the new motor. I used the overbore kit with the step pistons and replaced the valves, but my budget has kept me from being able to do the 3 angle valve job, and porting etc. I run 11.2 x 36 tires and basically have done nothing else to it. I am running an old mag from an A that I had laying around the shop and plan on rebuilding the original dist. with a Pertronix kit. I am looking for some mods that do not require complete disassembly of the motor such as governor upgrade, dist. advance, carb, etc. Thanks Jeff

We run our local aera with about 7 local clubs that pull,You must had been pulling at fairs shows etc with classes that spread apart,My super C is just what i talked about with the oversize kit, stock head, carb rejeted, spring in dist,12.4 36 tires and the highest i pull with it is 4500 at one place thats real loose the same with my wifes super C and its more powerful with 14.9 36 tires,I would keep in the lighter classes you are were your tractor belongs,Its too small to put in larger classes without a larger engine, If you put eletcronic ign in your dist i would add the lite spring on the advance weight under the points plate wile your in there, Whats shape is your gov spring in? If you aren't going to plow all day with this tractor you could tighten your valves 2 thous tighter for pulling it might help a little BUT without changing the airflow or compression you wont gain mutch power. Unless she has enough RPMs to get point bounce or something electronic ign will be a waste of your money. Migh better go with different springs in the distributor , Maybe some govener work and carb jetting, You can polish the intake also. MagMan

Something else you can try is these people make roller tip rockers for A, B, C's, ect. I have a set on a C I farm with. I have noticed a better throttle responce and a little more pep. I also have IH Fire Crater pistons in it, 1/8" oversize.
