Hey guys. I am borrowing this drill from my Neighbor. As I was bringing it to my place I noticed that all the planting gears are turning as I go down the rd. He didnt know how to turn them off and his fields are right next to each other so its not an issue for him. I have to take this 4 mi down the rd, I suspect that you dont want all the gears turning wile rd tripping. This is a real nice fellow and I sure dont want to damage his fine equipment. I cant seem to find a disconnect for the gears ether. Looks to be a MM modle p-3 I think. Any help from you Farmall boys?

Generally these are made so that when you lift it up, looks like a clutch type lift, it kicks out of gear. If that hasn"t been done in a while you might have to move some gears. usually it is a slidding situation or when dropped down 2 gears contact.

On my old mcormic you slide the gears around on a shaft to make it slow or fast and there is a drive gear that slides over. Dont know if that will help on a minnie though.

Kelly,

Pull the disengagment rope and pull ahead. This should release the drive mechanism to the drops.

It is a dog affair. The main drive will still turn but the mechanical clutch will disengage itself from the drill. When you get to the field, pull the rope again, pull ahead and it will snap in and "hook back up".

The other rope works the same way with the lifting of the outfit in and outta the ground.

Are you hitched to your pickup? :>)

I figured it out. There is 2 gears running the grass seeder with a cam inbetween them. When you raise the drill the cam is suppose to seperate the gear keeping the grass seeder from spining. Cam is worn so that the 1/2's dont seperate fully.
I pulled the cam over a little and wired if to keep the gears open. I drove it over with my 460 in 3rd gear nice and slow.
Cold as heck out today chilled me to the bone. Wind blowing about 20 mph.
to windy to drill and drop grass seed???
I dont know maybe I will do it tomorow.
