Ok...you guys. Just came back from the lawyer's place. Finally got things all done. Lost my Uncle last year and he gave me all the farm equipment. On the list is a 656D with a 660 turned up engine. It even has a turbo on it.
Wide front, last I drove it last Summer it pulled good...TA worked fine.
So what do I have? A keeper? A tin bucket? I have no experience with this model at all. All of mine are letter and early number series.
Thing is in Kentucky...it is worth hauling to Texas? Need help here guys. I do not farm like Allen...I mow at church (15 acres) and just keep them because I was raised on a farm and I like them around.

No wife guys. She passed on years ago. Spent 23 years in the Army, retired now working for this company. I have tractors coming out my ears now...but I can make room.
This tractor was well taken care of. I don't think it ever got wet unless he was on the seat. I will go up in June and move it to Indiana if nothing else. Everyone have a good day. Finally getting rain down here....

I have never heard any bad comments about a 656, one of the best tractors IH built -- as long as it was well maintained and not abused.

Yer darned right,

I'm sure there is something almost illegal about not liking the 656.

It will do it all and would be ideal for that 15 acres of grounds you have to take care of, Bill.

If I didn’t have this wife peekin’ over my shoulder, I’d be looking for one.

Hmmmm, but on the other hand and come to think of it, if I didn’t have this wife doin’ her peekin’, I couldn’t afford one, either. What’s a half-retarded guy like me to do anyway? :>(

I'm in Ohio I might be interested in it if you don't want to keep it. I need a smaller tractor to cultivate with. My 806 on 18.4's gets a little tight in the rows

I'm in Indiana, have access to trailers, pick-up trucks and a semi. If you don't want it I will gladly haul it away for you!:^)

I will be going up in June...does anyone have any idea how heavy the thing is? I have a 3/4 ton Dodge diesel and a 20ft goose neck trailer.
I still don't know what I will do with the thing yet. I may just take it to a friends place in southern Indiana for the time being.
Thanks in advance for your help.

What a bunch of vultures we have here! I would never behave like that. Y'know, I was just thinking though, I could probably drive it home to WI from KY,no need for a trailer..... .....
Really though a 656 is big enough to do some real work, but small enough to be nimble and handy. I don't remember, did you say it was gear drive or hydro? It would be good for mowing 15 acres of grass.
Paul

I know they are all playing...us old guys do that sometimes. It is a gear drive. I just wanted to get some idea if I should keep it or not. Never been around one that big much. Usally I just have smaller tractors. Biggest thing I have is a 450D dad had before he died. I only keep it because it was his.

Bill, I think I see your problem. You feel you have to have a use for these tractors to justify having them! Forget about that! You can see by the responses that everyone would like to have a 656 around- just to have around. Forget about practicality, you must be hanging around your wife too much! They never see the "need" for another tractor.LOL! Paul

Yep it's way too heavy for your trailer, better let me take it off your hands and haul it with my semi. Just being the nice guy I am, and I am closer than Allan, Rusty, or any of them. Seriously you can haul that on your trailer, but I think you ought to let me have an old tin bucket like that, just to help you out of course. Harley
