Found ice in the oil pan of my 200 this winter. Thawed it out and changed the oil. Worked it a bit, saw no milky oil. Parked it a couple months, and found milky oil and a cup or so of what looked like clear water in the bottom of the pan. Am I wasting my time if I change the oil again? How do you know if the problem is a cracked block? Can I tell if I pull the head, or do I need to take it somewhere to get it magnafluxed? Thanks...

A cup of liquid is not from condensation in a small engine like a 200. Sounds more like an o-ring is leaking at the bottom of a sleeve. Drop the pan and look real close with a good lite and you can see the bottom of the sleeves and more than likley you will see some drops at the bottom of one or more sleeve. If your water pump is working ok mite want to try some good sealant first. A good engine builder can lead you to a good product. I would try sealant first.

I agree with the Cowman to either cover it or build a shed. Water can get into your gear boxes
as well and into the ignition. Hal

Don't you have antifreeze in your tractor? clear water sounds like simple condensation to me. Yes, go ahead and change the oil. Tractors run for short periods in the winter will acumulate condensation rapidly and oil must be changed often.

I check all my water cooled engines in the fall for adequate antifreeze. What I think may have happened is water leaked past the manifold/muffler. The threads are stripped and this area doesn't seal up well. Plus, the tractor is stored outside. I've let is set two days now and am not getting any water or much of anything else out of the pan. Is this a good sign?

If the foreign liquid in your oil pan is not the same color as the liquid in your cooling system, then it is condensation (and or rain/snow getting in the oil) and not from a cracked block. If the liquid with the oil is the same color as in your radiator, then you might have a cracked head or block or other leak.

sure could be. sounds like you better get your manifold fixed or at least cover it up better.
