Cranked up my Farmall Super 'C' today (first time this year)and the hydraulic is pump whinning. The hydraulic box is full of Hy Tran and I replaced the filter last year. I also replaced the hydraulic temperature gauge at the same time and today I noticed the temp got real close to hot in a matter of minutes. Everything seems to be working ok but the whine and high temp concerns me. I checked for leaks and found none. Could the pump be the problem?

The pump is whining because the oil is being forced through the system, probably past the relief valve, because it"s normal "neutral" path is blocked.

See, when the hydraulics aren"t being used, the oil should flow straight through the center of the system right back to the reservoir. Hence the term "open center."

Have you moved the touch control levers to see if the problem goes away?

Yep, the oil is being forced through the releif valve all the time at high pressure, so it can't cool down.
