I recently adjusted the brakes on my super H as per the manual to the 1.5" clearance, but it did not seem to do annything to improve braking. Is there annyone with some advice on what I can do to improve the braking? Is there brakepads I can replace?

Thanks!

If you have a super H then you have disc brakes. There are two discs inside each brake casting, You will see how it works when you take it apart,Clean the expanders and the balls real well.If the balls don't measure real close to 875 thousands replace them. Several brake shops are relining the disc if they are the rivet type, using a little thicker lining to compensate for the wear.If ther is evidence of any oil on your discs replace them. Never found it on the super H but super M and the 400,450 a lot of times the brake shafts have to be filed to smooth the grooves were the discs slide

You probably have a “band type brake” on your H. The lining may have worn off the band, you may have gotten transmission grease on the lining, or the pivot shaft that tightens the band on the drum may be rusted tight and all you are doing is tightening the spring on the outside of the brake cover more and not actuating the brakes.

I’d suggest pulling the cover off and take a look inside and make sure that all the parts are moving correctly and that the lining is good and dry. If you have to replace the seal on the pinion shaft, you have to take the bull gear off the axle since the bull pinion carrier extends inside the bull gear. I know on an M you can take out the PTO and get the bull gear off without taking the cover off, you might be able to on an H also. Not a fun job, but neither is trying to get the top off.

The brake seal can be replaced easily from the outside; you don't have to remove the bull gear or pinion -- provided that's what you mean.

OOOOPS, well, I er, missed completely on this one. :<(

I missed the Super on the tractor and the fact that you can put the seal in witout removing the carrier.

I stand corrected on both counts. I apologize if I casued any confusion for Hendrik or guided him the wrong.

I'm glad you guys stepped up and got the correct info on the board.

Have a good one today, supposed to rain here!
