I was torking the head bolts and pulled the threads out of the block. I had the tork wrench set on 100ft. lbs. just like the book says. Now what do I do guys? This is enough to make a guy want to scream. Thanks for any help.

My ? is why the heck did it do that. Was the stud not all the way in the block? Did it already have a bad helicoil? Is your torque wrench Bad. I think I would try to figure out why before you just go ahead with the fix incase its going to happen again to another one.

Even as frustrating as it is, I figure it’s better to pull the threads now and fix it than have them pull later when you are using it. Heli-coil will work fine.

As Wardner has suggested a helicoil will make it strong as the original threads. We used them a lot in aluminum and keenserts too. Hal

Sounds like you will have to install a Heli-coil. YOu will neeed a drill or endmill and the special tap. A good hardware store can set you up. I have a magnetic based drill and that is what I would use due to the size of the hole and the importance of getting a straight hole.
