Can I replace the front seals in my model H without much hassle ?? Like splitting the tractor ?? Or can I do it all fom under it ?? Anybody happen to have the seal part numbers ?? I guess the 3 gallons of water didn't do much for the seals.

You can get all the seals you need from any NAPA. Need 2 gaskets for the retainers though and NAPA does not have them. Blue stuff works though.

Not a big deal to replace both front seals. You'll need to drop the belly pump to give you some room (not hard to do but it's HEAVY!). But you do not need to split the tractor. Also getting the upper U-joint half and the lower pump drive dog off their respective shafts can be annoying, but there's some tricks that make the their removal fairly easy.

I purchased replacement seals at the local warehouse for Kaman Industrial. Called them with the IHC part numbers off the old seals and they crossed them to Chicago Rawhide equivalants. They had 'em in stock, and price was less than at the CIH dealer.

My old notes indicate the IHC seal #'s are 79 634 H (upper) and 43 308 D (lower), but I'm not positive. And unfortunately I didn't record the replacement seal numbers. Anyway suggest you check yours before ordering!

Hope this helps!

Bob,
You don't need to drop the belly pump on an H. I've replaced seals in two of them without dropping the pump. On mine, there is just enough room after taking the driveshaft jount apart to slide the driveshaft forward, and by rotating the input shaft to the tranny, you can take the bolt out of the end of the yoke and slide it off.
