The carb starts leaking once gas is turned on, is ok once running. I know the bowl needs to cme off. Once the 4 bolts are out I would like to know if any part of the govenor can come with the bowl, do not have a repair manual. Would like suggestion on the which manual to purchase there seems to be several. Will appreciate any help.
Thanks Bob

Copies of the original IH manuals can be had from "BINDER BOOKS" 503 684-2024 ---- a bit pricy but I am glad I got mine.....

So does my Super M. So does our H. So does our 400. Do you pull the choke when you start it? Normal Farmall. Does it leak just as it is cranking? Or while the tractor is sitting with the gas on.

Their is a screen (or) brass screen something like that. Which is made to let the excess gas out witch helps let the excess gas out so it won't flood. Some people paint these and wonder why their tractor floods all the time!

Pull the carburetor off. The part you want to work on is in the top, and you would have to work upside down. Take the two screws out from the governor tube and it will just pull apart. When you have it apart assembly will be self evident.

In addition to the float needle you have a couple other places it may be leaking... the washer under the needle cage and the one under the main jet. These washers cause a lot of leakage that is blamed on the needle.

No part of the governor will come out when you remove the bowl. It almost sounds like you have a leaky needle and seat valve.

As far as shop manuals, Blue Ribbon and IT are the two most mentioned here, I have IT for B, M, 560 and Blue Ribbon for my 966. Both have a lot of valuable information and either will serve you well.
