magman: Just to add to what Rick has said, A and B were the only two without live hydraulics. The C-113 engine was used in all but the last few C tractors and in SA up to serial number 356001. After that time for each they were all C-123 engines. In both cases they used higher rpm in C, SC, 200, 230 and 240 than they did in SA, 100, 130 and 140. I believe carburation and compression was a bit different in the larger of the two classes of tractor.

A guy with a local shop in my hometown used do engine work almost exclusively on Farmalls. He always claimed those engines didn't give near as long service between rebuilds in the larger tractor either. Those bigger diameter wheels zapped them much quicker. I have used my brothers 230 some, believe me they will never match an H. I know what the ratings say, but most H's in their heyday exceeded that. I doubt if many of the C, SC, etc. did.

They were governed to a higher speed in the C etc. than in the Super A. That would affect the life as well.

There is no difference between a Super A and plain C engine. Both 113 cu. in with hydraulic pump mount. As stated, the water pump could be added to either. Super A-1 and Super C engines were both 123 cu.in. with stock water pump. Probably dropped the front end in a hole and broke the block. C's were good for that, or trashing the front bolster or torque tube.

magman: Definately a C with a Super A motor. Water pump can be added to any of them.

Is the tractor SN same as the engine SN. That SN looks to be off a Super A without the water pump
and has the 123cid block with thicker sleeves. Someone may have added a water pump. Hal

PS: It sure is beautiful today in MD, a carbon copy on Monday too. Up near 80 degrees.

Hi Jon, Those C's could be fitted with a water pump too or as Jim said that someone replaced the
engine. My manual isn't very clear about the C water pump. They say water pump attachment on the C. Some of those late C's may have had water pumps.

It may be like when I owned Chrysler products that when you needed parts you had to take the serial number and date of manufacture.
I don't think IH was that bad. Hal

Sounds like a C with a slightly newer Super A engine.
