How do you adjust the transmission brake on a 806. If adjusted correctly, will this help make it shift easier? Now when I push the clutch in, you have to use everything you have to move the range leaver from HI-LO to REV.

The problem is that EVERYTHING is out adjustment, First adjust the clutch free travel to 1 inch then the trans brake with the clutch pedal all the way down to the stop remove the pin in the clevis of the clutch brake and hold the brake rod back then adjust the clevis till the pin will slide in then release the clutch and turn the clevis out 1and 1/2 turns , i know the book only calls for one but do it this way as it makes up for ware. Then start the tractor with the trans in Nutral and park lock set loosen the dump valve bolt and back it out a couple turns and with someone on the seat have them push the clutch pedal down to the stop then start turning the dump valve bolt in till the oil lite comes on in the gauge cluster , stop release the clutch pedal then add one more complet turn and lock the lock nut and you are done and will shift fine.

If its grinding to much to put it in gear it needs to be tightened up. If it don't want to go into gear then it needs to be loosened up. The best I can describe the adjustment is when you push the clutch pedal all the way down, count to three, and put the lever into gear and the gears will grind lightly and stop to shift into gear. Then when you let the clutch out to let the tractor creep ahead a little push the clutch pedal back in and the tractor should roll back and the shift lever will come out of gear easily. If not then loosen the tranny brake 1/2 turn or so.
