When sending posts to this forum I used to get a screen that had two little circles at the very top, one "show" and one "hide" email.I'm not getting them anymore . Has the board changed?

I didn't check the "notification box" but my email still was open. So it looks like unless you don't fill in the "email" box at top it will be open regardless. Test #2

I agree with Hugh. On many occasions messages to this board would be better served with a private reply, yet the sender has his email blocked. Going to try thr "no notification" on this reply, as I see my first one worked with the other option selected. Thanks for the responses.

Gord: You can still hide it by not clicking at bottom to receive e mail notification. You will not receive notifications that someone responded to your post, neither will anyone be able to send you an e mail. Your e mail is actually not exposed with the new format. The message goes to you via YT, then you decide if you wish to respond.

In my opinion no one should be allowed to hide their e mail when making a statment on a public forum. If you wish to make public statments, you should then be available for public critism. Another matter is disputes that occur on here from time to time, often it is best for the individuals to sort their differences out privately. I think it will work quite well.

Many will claim this causes them to receive unwanted mail. Ever since coming to YT 5 years ago, I have exposed my e mail on every post I made. I receive very little unwanted e mail. Also have met a lot of very fine people, and got to know them far better than one would on public forum. I would suggest that if people are getting unwanted e mails, the cause is from use of other sites on the internet, not YT.

Uh, not to be critical or anything, Hugh, but did you realize you hid your e-mail address on your post? :)

brian: You are right, every once in awhile I miss the box when clicking. This particular thread was a great time to do that. I assure you it was not intentional. Didn't get e mail notification of you and Cowman either.

It's on there now, I was reading the posts this morning when I was still partly asleep and read your post about everyone should show their e-mail addy. I automatically looked up at the "send e-mail/no e-mail" line and did a double take when I saw you hadn't listed yours! Oh well, have a great day....

The author of this message has not provided an email address or has hidden it from view. If you wish to contact them, simply reply to the message post and they will see it the next time they view the discussion. They are still able to receive notifications of responses if they checked the "Email Notification" box when the message was authored.

I've noticed the same thing. I just assumed that it was changed and nobody told me.

If you don't want your e-mail to show, simply do not put it in the box, leave the box blank. You can still post new messages or reply without revealing your e-mail address.
