560 D vs. 560 LP - Double the price?

Well, I know most of the folks on the board like the 460 and 560 Diesels better than the LP or gasoline models but I'm not sure they are worth twice as much.

There was a 560 Diesel listed in the thrifty nickel this week that sold for $5,000 in 1 day that was in decent shape but recently rebuilt and running good. I was looking at a 560 LP that is still for sale at $2,600 that really looks good, decent rubber, TA works, no smoke, and runs good.

Are the diesels really that much better?

You don't even want to know what I paid for a wide front diesel with fast-hitch last fall. I kept it about a week and sold it to a neighbor. I will tell you it was less than your LP

Allen:
On LP that would be more like 1 1/2 to 1 and when diesel engine does down it will be much more expensive to rebuild. Fuel cost is another matter, LP was once cheaper to run than diesel but that was long ago. Just my opinion and it is probaly worth what I charge for it. 0.
