I recently acquired a late model Farmall tractor and was wondering what the differences were between an A and a Super A? I can't figure out which model I have. The model # is FAA and the serial # is 271217. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me. The ID plate is under the seat on the inside of the left fender.

Check "Serial Numbers" under Research & Info on the left side of this site. I've copied them to this. The number looks like a 1949 Super A. But you cited a different placement for the serial number plate.

Farmall Model A, AV, B and BN

Year Starting Serial Number 1939 501 1940 6744 1941 41500 1942 80739 1944 93690 1945 113218 1946 146700 1947 182964 The Serial Number is located on the seat bracket on the left side

Farmall Model Super A

The information given on this site for serial plate location on the Super A is not correct. It may be correct for a Super A1, but the Super A plate was on the seat bracket, just like the old A.

Thanks Bill, everyone on the site has been very helpful. I've gotten numerous responses now and they all lead to the 1949 Super A. Let me go out and double check my location description in the morning and I'll get back at a late time.
