Did some heavy pulling the other day, ripping an old pasture, Temp ran approx 160 ran that way all afternoon. At idle dropped to 140 almost immdeatly. It's a hard worker. Is that a acceptable temp. Thanks for any advise.

I agree with Old on the higher operating temp.
Those old tractors may still have the 160 degree
thermostat when they used alcohol antifreeze. Such as Zerone. Haven't heard that word for years.

That's what we used when I was a kid. Too high of a operating temp would boil away the alcohol.
The 180 to 195 degree range keeps out any sludge
too. Hal

Sounds a little low, does it have a thermostate??Should run more like 180-195. Engines run better if up around the 180-200 range.
