Thanks everyone... in reply to PurdueAg, 04-13-2005 19:02:44
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments on the restoration. I sure learned a lot, and everyday before I leave the shop I can't help but sit and stare at her for a while. I can't believe I have already bought another junker and am ready to go at it again. Glutton for punishment, I guess, but this is really a fun hobby! I can't wait to get an old Little Genius plow for it. Thanks to everyone on this board who provided answers to questions along the way. They ended up being not only a huge help, but also a safeguard from accidents in the shop.

Tony

Wow! This job will knock your socks off! Good job and I would say for your first restoration you are in a position where you may not be able to improve. Starte off at the top.

I am working on a Farmall M that belonged to my grandfather. Not quite as bad but needed quite a bit of attention. Hope mine will be half as good when picture time arrives.

PurdueAg,

That's real nice and I know the feeling you have. I posted my SMTA on here a couple of days ago and it sure is a great feeling. Nothing nicer than a shiney old letter series (IMHO)! I have a 200 that was in simlar shape to the C you're getting ready to start on, it's running and used but not painted yet. Again great job!

Thanks for sharing that with us!
Ernie Bob

VERY nice.

Can you briefly describe the process. Was it just a matter of sanding and painting and finding a diamond in the rough or was it a total rebuild?

Thanks Nathan. It was more or less a rebuild. I took off almost every single part and bolt and sanded and painted it before reassembling. Check out my website for more details and photos of the stuck pistons, bad manifold, etc., etc. It wasn't a really bad tractor to start with, but for my first major engine work (of any kind) it was a good learning experience. Scroll down the website and you'll see my next project which will be a LOT more work!

Tony, That is a great looking "H". hope to see it at one of the Michigan shows. I missed Buckley, simply because it was the same week as Oakley, which I attended. Both are great shows.

Thanks Paul. I have never been to the Oakley Show. Can you e-mail me some details (dates, general description, etc.)?

The Buckley show is *awesome*, I sort of stumbled on to it last year when I was staying in Cadillac. Who would a thunk that such a large show would be there in Buckley!

How do I haul that H? i.e. what kind of trailer do I get so that the rear wheels don't conflict with the fenders. I assume I need a trailer with the bed above the wheels?

Thanks,

Tony

Hello Mr. Purdue Ag,

Thats a great restoration there. I was wondering if you go to school at Purdue or are part of the alumni. I'm a student here at Purdue and was just wondering.

That is one great looking tractor, however it would look just a tad better if you had put an original seat on it. After all it is a restoration and no H had that kind of seat.
