I went looking around for a combine carb in the local salvage yard, and tripped over a nice old tractor. It is a 53 Super M, just a plain jane, with a 264 engine. It has went through a fire, burned the tires off it, and the paint. The sheet metal was so straight on it, I couldn't pass it up without finding out the story on it. Engine turns over, starter still works, it's rusty from the fire. Did not even melt the distributor cap off it! Id say it was not a real hot fire it was in,, just enought to burn up the paint, and the tires. has 14 inch rims on the back, 2 sets of weights. I think I will restore this one. Not gonna scrap it like some would if they seen them in this condition, mechanics special!! LOL! paid $300 for it. I figured the engine is worth that! well, off to go pick it up! ChadS

Chad, I hope you take some before and after pictures. That should be the mother of all contrasts. When I was in my 20"s I used to have this recurring dream of finding a 57 or 58 Corvette like that. Never happened, and consequently I never owned a Corvette. Good find, Good buy, and Good luck.

I gotta argue a bit, you didn't "buy" it, you stole it.

Serial # is 38032. Its rusty! rims are good, sheet metal is still good. Needs radiator, generator, guages, tires, distributor. Id say a few seals and gaskets too. Carb looked ok, but rebuilding it anyhow. bout 50-75 hrs of work on the ol workhorse, and it would be a good one again. I got it home ,and unloaded close enough to reach it with an air hose. oil had some antifreeze in it,,,,, but not sure where it came from, Chad
