I have a few questions about the 1568"s. Did all 1568"s come with cabs and does anyone know if any 1568"s slipped out of the plant with a 1468 serial # plate?? I have located a 1568 , but it has a 1468 tag. Can anyone explain this maybe?? Thanks in advance, Chad

The serial number tag was loacted on the speed transmission housing, which means that it will have the 4-speed, making it a 1468. Someone's trying to pull one over on you.

that's where it is on both models, if it's got a 3 speed +hi/lo it's a 15 if it's got a 4-speed its a 14. most 15's I've seen have cabs probably because they are so heavy, I don't pay much attention to 14's

The tranny is a 3speed with T/A, so its a 6 speed, which makes it a 1568 and the side of the tractor says 1568, but the serial # on the clutch housing says 1468. Tractor has both pto"s and dual Hyd. outlets. But I can"t figure out why it would have a the wrong tag, b/c the tranny and rearend on a 14 will not interchange with a 1568.Thanks again , Chad

the t/a housing could have been changed I think that casting is the same on all the large frame tractors. The dual pto will bolt right into a 15 it could be done but the factory wouldn't do it.

This might be wrong, but I thought that 1566's couldn't have the dual pto. I thought that they all got just the 1000 pto because IH felt that it had too much power to run through a 540 rpm pto drive. Regardless, something seems a little weird here. . .
