I picked up a one bottom plow the other day that has the numbers IH512504R1 stamped in the main beam. I looked through the archives but didn't see much information there. Can someone tell me the model of this plow. Also, I've seen this type of plow on a cub before but not on a Super A or 140. Think I remember there being a chain that ran from the beam to a bracket bolted to the right axle housing (not the lift chain) and a lever to adjust the drawbar height. Are these necessary on a 140? As usual, thanks in advance.

That would be an A-193 plow. The chain on the plow beam goes to the rear rockshaft to lift and lower the plow. If your 140 does not have a rear rockshaft, you will have to rig something up. There should also be a bar that goes from the drawbar to the front rockshaft arm to adjust the tilt of the plow with the hydraulics. If you don't have that, you can still use the plow, but you will have to manually adjust the drawbar height with the bolts for same that are in the drawbar brackets. The bar for adjusting the tilt is often missing from these plows as once you have the plow set, you don't need it. To mount the plow, you turn the drawbar around so that it is forward and mount it on the front drawbar mounting holes on the final drives. Then bolt the plow to the drawbar, using the holes that align the plow correctly with the rear wheel. The chain on the beam then lines up with the rear rockshafts to lift the plow. If you have trouble getting the plow to start plowing, post back, and I can give more info on how to set it.

Appreciate the information. The bar that runs from the drawbar to the rockshaft was my main concern, everything else seems pretty straight forward. I guess trial and error will let me know the correct drawbar height. Any thoughts on the chain I saw on the cub that went from the beam to the right final drive? Logically thinking it looks like it was meant to keep the plow from swinging to the left. Thanks again.

Never saw a chain to the final drive as you describe. As other said, maybe someone was trying to correct a problem. If plow is properly adjusted and all parts are there and in good condition, plow should not have a tendency to pull to side. I have a parts catalog for the Cub implements and it does not show any such chain.

In all the pictures I've seen of Cubs with mounted plows, I've never seen one with a chain like that. Could be that it was something the owner added to address a (perceived) problem?
