I got a 1468 I farm with that has a starting problem. When you crank it over cold, the white smoke rolls, I'm talking 70 degrees . When you do get it started it takes a little bit to clean up but, not bad.I overhauled the tractor because I thought this was some of the problem. I took the pump to the pump shop they told me somebody has put oversize plungers and barrels in it. Can this make it start hard? The tractor starts great once warmed up. I checked the timing with a light it's right. The injector have been set to factory specs as has the pump. The tractor has been setup to run and idle on 8 cylinders. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

What your experiencing is perfectly normal for that tractor.

A little whiff of either and away they go!

I think that every DV550 engine I've ever seen starts hard first start of the day, even at 60-70 degrees. They spin over fast they just don't hit until you give them a shot of starting fluid. We rebuilt our injector so it would start and idle on all 8 cylinders (run on all 8 all the time) that did'nt seem to make a differance either. It sucks starting them that way, but I dont think there's any thing you can do about it.

with the bigger pump, it is probably shooting extra fuel to the cylinders and what you see is unburned fuel. that pump is turned up for heavy plowing or DMI work.... MORE POWER means more fuel....

make sure you have a very clean air filter so it can burn it all>>>>>>

That"s fairly typical of the inline Bosch pumps. Spend some time around 4440"s and you"ll get used to it.
