My wifes H seems to have a govenor problem. When I open the throttle for instance going down the road and I open it wide open it seems to wind out waaaayy faster than it should.. then slows back down really quickly to where it should be. Also, when using it for pulling my disk it does the same thing. doesn't seems to have a smooth flow. What can I check for if I pull the side cover on the govenor housing?? Any thoughts?
Thanks
Lance

Lance, have you concidered the governor spring that controls high speed or the surge spring. If weakened by alot of years they can do what you describe. Did you check the linkage for binding or dirt and crud. Clean everything and look. You may want to buy the service manual for your tractor model (Binder books has them as well as YTMAG) I bought one for my B and it changed my life. Lots more fun. Hope this helps.

Have you taken the carburetor off lately by any chance? The connection between the throttle and the governor is usually to blame.
