2 years ago a true IH man up the road from me died leaving 15 tractors 2 were in red power.I have been helping her out these last few years with all kind of things, she called me this week and asked me to get her a new mower at the IH dealer(zero turn cadet)and see how they would trade for a 1979 cub with sickle mower, serial # shows it to be one of the last 400 built. This tractor has never been restored and looks almost new ,It looks like its never been rained on.Can some of you give me a fair tradein price,I need and idea because I can turn them down.

The tractor is probably worth a minimum of $3000. I doubt the dealer will offer anywhere near that on trade.

Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that "fair tradein value" is an oxymoron. You'll be lucky to get half what it's worth trading it in with a dealer. Dealers don't care about the age, rarity, or condition of a tractor... At least, not until it comes time to sell it, then the rustiest, leakiest, nastiest looking tractor is in 100% field-ready primo condition :)

You could probably get enough money out of that Cub to buy a small Cadet zero-turn if you were to sell it outright.
