The 6 cyl engine is longer than the 4 cyl. therefore the frame rails are longer too. You could do a couple of different ideas,,, You could use the 460-560 front bolster, then be able to use a wide front from the larger series IH tractors,,, Little easier to find that an original IH for the M. Reroute the steering linkage to fit the later model front ends. You could redrill the frame rails to adapt the M front bolster, and lengthen the steering linkage to reach the front. if you do this like that,,, you can still use the stock M radiator, just adapt hoses to it. The front grille will still be in stock form,, Id say you could either lenthen the M hood, No, the stock M sheet metal wont work, cause it would be too short. Now, if you used the 560 front end, you can use all the factory radiator, and front grille from the 460-560, and totally alter the appreance of the tractor to look like a 560. The ring gears are larger in diameter on the 560, and also the tooth count is more than the M. You could totally by pass the entire problem by using a 3 bolt starter bellhousing from the SM Would not have to do anything at all but bolt it together. A 560 is basicly the same as a SM-SMTA-450, just with a 6 cyl. as long as the backspacing matches from the engine plate, to the back edge of the starter ring. Chad
