I"ve noticed the speeds in some IHC tractor data guides list the 4th gear speed in my "37 W-30 to be between 10 & 14 mph. Mine does not run this fast. My 4th gear speed is not a whole lot faster than 3rd. Does anyone know what it could be?

Did your W-30 come out on steel or pneumatics (Rubber)? The fast transmition was an option only on pneumatic equiped tractors. Look at your serial number. Is ther a P and a T in it? P for pneumatic and T for transmition.

That"s where it gets interesting. The tractor came out on steel. It has a P on the tag. The tractor spent it"s life on one farm, according to the man who owned it & I have no reason to doubt what he"s telling me.

Could be the dealer swapped em out. He may have had the tractor on his lot and someone wanted pneumatics.

it depends on the tag. p, pnuematic tires.... s, special features.... m, modified.... sp, four speed-15 mph on tractors below wb15106.... t, four speed-10 mph on tractors wb15106 and up..... ha, high altitude pistons..... sl,lower low gear..... h, differential lock..... d, distilate.... my w30 has a p for the pnuematic tires, four speed. fourth gear is about 3 mph. has a really low, lower gear, but no sl on my tag. who knows. . hope this helps. pg
