I posted a message on my SC on Saturday and with the advice I recived from you guys here I took the carb apart. It turns out the needle and cage were messed up got a carb kit for that. Put the carb back on and hooked it up. I went to start her and it stared it at full throtle plus++. Shut it off on the spot. Adjusted the rod that comes from the governor and could get it to the point to were I could get it near a idle still allitle high. However if I move it a notch literaly one notch it runs at 2000 RPM's!!! what could be the trouble??? Thanks for the help Andrew

Check the bearing in the gov they loose the bearings and only have the cups and bearing keepers left, they will act like you descrived, replace then and your gov spring and readjust your carb linkage.

OK I got it to respond to the throttle not quite ideling yet around 800 RPM's However I cant get it to get above 1510RPMS I adjusted the screw on the top of the govenor to the point it fell out and still no higher RPMs gained. How do I get it to turn the RPMS up. I got the IT manual and it said that this would solve this problem??? Also at high RPM's it surges what could solve this issue. Thanks very much Andrew

Andrew,

If the Super C carb and governer linkage is like the one on an H, there is a notch on the linkage on the carb that a shaft from the governor fits into. It is real easy to not get that shaft in the notch. When that happens, full throttle occurs. If the linkage is not the same as an H, forget what I said.

HTH,
Larry

The linkage from gov. to carb. is not the same on the Super C and the H/M. The Super C does not have the tube/turning shaft setup, only a forward and aft moving rod.

I am guessing it is a broken spring or weight inside the govenor.

Look in the manual for how to adjust the gov. I did it awhile ago and it was not that hard good luck
