Does anybody know, if you have to split a 240 utility to change the main bearings? Its a 61 if that matters. Thanks

I would get those mains and rod journals measured
to see if the crankshaft is still standard or has been ground undersize. Look at the back of the
bearing inserts to see if they're std, .002" undersize or .010"undersize. The mains will probably be hard to measure with the shaft still
in the engine. One of those main bearings determines your crankshaft end play and I think it would very hard to change without pulling the engine. Is there any sludge over the pickup oil pump screen? This would restrict the oil to the pump. Hal
