Should have thought of this earlier when I asked about re-magnetizing Magneto magnets.
Do I use insulated wire or not, to wrap around the magnet?

Redfan, John M nailed it with his posts below, Insulated wire and just a second or two connected to the battery. The steel plate across the ends of the magnet is called the keeper. Leave the keeper attached to the magnet during the recharge and remove it just before installing the magnet back into the magneto.

Insulated,I think I used 12 gauge wire.Pay close attention to the way its wrapped and only touch the ends to a battery for a second or two.

You will also need a peice of steel to cover the ends of the magnet.
