After 7 months of hard work, FBH 109840 came to life this morning around 9:30 am. Wow is that gratifying. This was my first engine overhaul, and my first farm tractor restoration. She sounds so good. Runs like new. No smoke, no leaks. I took her out and played with her a bit -- carefully "breaking in the engine". This evening, after she was back in the shop, I just sat there and looked at her for about an hour. It's amazing how you become so familiar with every detail about a tractor after you've had every single piece apart -- cleaning, sanding, painting, etc. It's also amazing how you notice different things about other tractors of the same model. You also tend to see the little details that many others probably miss (like when people paint over grease and rust, etc., especially in the nooks and crannies where most people don't look). That was fun, I am ready to start another! Got my eye on a C in real bad shape. I think I'll try to save it, too. Thanks to everyone who responded to my occasional questions. This forum has been very helpful. I'll post a picture of the H as soon as I have every last detail of the restoration complete (I still have to finish the front rims). In the mean time, you can see what she looked like when I got her and some shots along the way at my website.

Tony

Looks like you did a great job on the H! Nothing like the first time to hear it run after so much work.

Tony:
I completely understand. Hearing the tractor run again sends lots of adrenaline through the body doesn"t it!
Great pictures on your website!

Jeff
