Well, I broke down and got some old headlights off ebay for my M. They have the 6v bulbs in them (or no bulbs) and my M has been converted to 12v so I need to put the right 12v bulb in.

Anyone know the right ones? Was at the autoparts store and I found a few different ones that would fit. The light switch has a high/low setting on it so I would think it should be something like a brake/tail light but wasn't sure exactly what one.

Thanks in advance. Nathan

If you use the lights for night work. You want # 1195. They make a lot more light than automotive bulbs. They are the type used in orginal Guide lights. I get them from Mcmaster Carr

#1195 is most likely correct for 12 volt. It should have the same appearance and be the same size as an #1133, which is correct for 6 volt. #1156 will fit, but that is a tail light bulb, way too small and not enough candlepower.

I won't argue about the brightness, just going by what is in OEM tractor parts book. Traditionally, the lights were dim.

The hi-low sw if for charging rate but since you have changed it to 12v that sw is no longer in the circut unless you have put a 12v brush generator and regulator in the circut. 12v bulbs with 30 or so c.p. should be avail at any automotive store IF the guy behind the counter can read the parts book. You need only a single contac with the side pins to lock.

Brake and tail lts wont work cause they have 2 contacts on them to make them a double fillament bulb.. You need a single post single fillament bulb like used to be used in backup lights big ones that is Just look for two locking lugs straight across from each other ,single fillament ,single post bulb with the correct size socket size....Most workers at Napa can find them but you will know more than they do at most pep boys auto pro type stores...There you will have to look for your self...

Not at my local NAPA. Bunch of youngsters that haven't a clue. Went in one time to get a new regulator for a 'C'. First attempt, well it was a voltage regulator for what make of vehicle I haven't a clue. Second attempt, came back with a little plastic electrical chip. Luckily, the phone rang and while they were on the phone I spun the book around and they had it on the page for a 1066. I looked up the right number for them and then they came out with the right regulator. Needless to say, I only go to NAPA as a last and desperate resort.

Yup - last resort! NAPA is the only parts house in my town, so I'm kinda stuck. The next closest one os 40 miles away. Usually plan on making a parts run in conjunction with something else. (unless it's an emergency). The raise the price about 20% just because they're the only game in town.

No NAPA parts stores around here but O'Reily had some 1195 bulbs at their warehouse and said they could get them for me tomorrow.

AutoZone never had them and never will. I didn't call Checker.

Thanks, Nathan
