I have my Farmall A sandblasted and painted. The engine was rebuilt. I need to redo the breaks.
I guess I should have done that before but I didn't.

Anyway I was wondering if it is a straight forward job or will I need a manual? Both are seized but the tractor rolls freely.

On the manual issue - can someone recommend what manuals I should have.

Thanks for your help.

You probably will need to replace both seals. The drivers side is not easy to replace the inner seal as the platform and clutch and left brake pedal assy have to be remover for the inner seal. Outer seals arent that hard. You can get new linning at a brake shop and rivet them on the bands and save 50 bucks or so its your money.

Thanks for the tip. I doubt what is in there will be of any use. I have not had working breaks for 20 years. I bought the break bands about 10 years ago anyway. It is hard to believe I am getting close to finishing this project.

Brakes should be fairly straight forward. $60 ea for new bands at IH dealer. Most likely it's the pedals that are frozen up. If the seals are leaking where the shafts enter the transmission you should replace them as the left one will leak right on to the new brake and ruin it. Dave.
