Hmmm, I didn't know that!

I've got the local red mech scourin' every darned iron pile in the county for a second set of front end weights.

He tells me that the bolt pattern is the same on the small chassis tractors as it is on the large chassis tractors. They take the same identical weight brackets and the same weights.

Hmmm, this bowlegged ol' fool just didn't know these things. Now, I'm beginning to think that I must have lead a sheltered life down on the flatland. :>(

yeah, our 4240 CIH has the weight box on it from our 786, the 1566 from the 806, and IH made suitcase weights in 75 and 100 pound sizes, all the same thickness so they will go on the same weight boxes. And pretty much everyone else made theirs to fit the IH box. IH weights will hang on anything that's a half inch thick, so they are real popular with pullers around here. I know where there's all kinds of IH weights but they are in Ohio.

Allan: My 560, 656 and 1066 all had same bolt pattern. Most of the mounting brackets in our area were fabricated locally. IH dealer found a shop that fabricated same quality for less money. The one on my 1066 was 15" front to back, was wide enough for 16 weights and contained a tool box.

The four bolt pattern had enough strength, as I once operated a Rockland Rotoveyor, 7,500 lbs on hitch as I recall. We put on 16 - 100# weights lined another 12 in skid loader bucket, put a chain through handles the two sets for mounting. This was in 1978 and guy selling Rotoveyor wondered what kind of hick town was this that didn't have a 200 hp tractor to demonstrate his machine. 1066 had 20.8x38 duals and at the end of the day his machine was sold.

Yep holes 16 inch on center. Come on over . I,ll mount an extra 10 hole bracket on there and let you borrow a rack till pulling season gets here. Then we'll take the pair of 966's down the track and see if we can scare anybody ( or ourselves). Migraine

Well,

I'll be doggoned. 'Spose it was an industry standard or something?

I never would have guessed that they would bolt up across the manufacturers' lines.

Yep. They take the same wight bracket BIT on the 66 sieres they need two spacers to move the bracket out foward about two inches or the weights will hit the grill.
