Hello, I am looking to repower my farmall H. I have looked around the web in search of a replacement engine that would provide a little more power, the one thats in my tractor now is old and tired. I wanted your opinions on weither it would be much trouble to get it to fit.

Johnboy, Jerk out the sleeves, bore it out and run 3 3/4 M pistons in it. Use a 350 head, M carb burn alcohol and it will dyno 62 horse. Don,t forget to change rod bearings often, they don,t last long.

The only problem I can see is that it turns at 109 RPM meaning it would go less than one tenth as fast meaning it would take all day to plow one acre unless you had a 322 bottom plow.

Don't know it might be a little underpowered compared to that old IH engine.

Jonboy, That auoughta do it. YOu might need to beef up the frame, tranny, rear end, axles, and modify the sheet metal, steering, front bolster, and install a set of tires earmarked for "Big Bertha", and when you are done, dont forget to enlarge the barn door. It should be able to handle a larger cultipacker..... .come to think of it, you wont even need a cultipacker anymore.

Do they have a provision on the front pulley to fit a crank handle in case you get a flat battery?

Sounds kinda puny. I think Rolls makes one with 16 cylinders. Lookemup on the web.

I don't know if you should do it.I think you might have to convert to 12 volts. Although maybe you could paint it white and put a TA in it. Then you could claim to have a rare factory Super-
duper HTA diesel Demo.
You might want to put 13.6's on the back to compensate for the 120 RPM motor.

Far as I know the Super H, 300, or 350 engines will bolt right in, or will with minimal modification. You can also put stepped head or fire crater pistons in your original engine -- otherwise ChadS will have several suggestions.

LOL. I'm not sure even Chad S can sup that baby up. Would be concerned about the H's rear end being tough enough to take the added ponies however. Thanks for the laugh. My nickel Dick Davis

I have pointed out the weakness in the trans/rear end many times, but most people don't seem to care, so I simply answered the question -- firecraters are about as far as I would personally go with an H -- I was not trying to be funny.

After reading the other posts, I suppose Jonboy meant it as a joke, I paid no attention to the link.

I think those same tiny men have already been working on one of my Hs. If only I could convince them to repair, not just tear things apart. Sort of like Gremlins, you know.
