On My Super C I have a 12 volt system batter and alternater. However I still have a 6 volt coil, There is a reducer of some type before it goes to the coil. I have to replace the coil (it stals on hills and then starts on flat ground I think its the coil) and was wondering can I just put a 12 volt coil on or do I need to keep it 6 volt in order to not fry the distribute out. Otherwise replace the reducer and put a 6 volt coil back in???? Not sure what to do?? Thanks for the help!!
Andrew

Note some good comments below - but with regard to your coil: either you need a 6volt coli and a resistor, (your word - reducer,) or if you have to replace coil you can simply get a 12volt coil and be done with it.

12 volt coil will work >>> if you have lights on your tractor be sure to convert the bulbs over to 12 volt also.
OEM sales a reproduction coil (12 or 6 volt) that looks like the orginal coil.

It's not the coil, your carb is too lean.

check your fuel supply and carb.,electricity doesn"t care if it flows up, down or sideways.

I'd sooner say your trouble is with the points.
