What kind of IH planter can I pull behind my farmall 300 to plant ornamental corn, and pumpkin seed? A few guys suggested and IH cyclo planter. What models are there? I only need to plant about 10 acres.. one or a two row planter would be okay.

From the sound of what you are saying, it sounds like a #41 or a #44 both good planters. I have had both planters and they work good. I now have a # 56 4 row and like it very much. A 4 row is great, you are done in half the time. John deere is also a good planter. Have fun. Boyd

I have an IHC two-row planter that I"m trying to determine the model # and year manufactured. The planter has two steel wheels, one per side. Each wheel is made of two seperate pieces of steel, placed in a v-shape and the wheels are located behind, not inline, of the seed bins. It is a rope tripped planter, though I don"t know whether it is horse or tractor drawn. There is a 47 1/2" tongue which measures 1 1/2" high x 3" wide. On the lead end there is a 10" gusset(attached to the bottomside of the tongue) with a "U" bracket for attaching to a tractor or pull bar...? The gusset has 4 holes to allow height adjustment. This tongue is original, as it is attached in several places and has the original paint. This planter has two runners/ blades located on the bottom giving the appearance that these served to furrow the soil? The following are various part numbers I"ve found. The first one being off the wheel hub.
IFC P01646(not IHC)
1055AA
3569AA
3006AD(Located in bottom of hopper on rotary mechanism.)
1827AA
IH 620084-RI(Located on bottom "leg" to which "blade" is attached to.)
620318-RI
Searching through this site, I found a photograph of one identical to mine, this one from an owner in Iowa. His ad indicated he too didn"t know the production date or model.Unfortunately, the ad was only a photo and no contact information was provided. Thank you for your help.

I use two for these purposes. A JD7000 4Rw. AND AN OLD TWO ROW I think it is a 240. My 4 wheeler pulls that. Ornamental corn? Indian corn? My neighbor is the world's foremost authority on colored corn. He grows it for the Corn Palace murals. He started with 4 colors and now has developed 8. And some mixes of blue/white, red/white, red/blue. It is all hand picked, hand sorted. He hand shells his seed corn. Imagine I can get you some seed.

Vet, is that a vacuum planter? How many rows? Three point or pull type? How well does it work for pumpkins with the different size seeds?

Ornamental corn, is that from Asia? LOL. They made a model 56 in a two row. They are a good planter. You can probably get a four row in that model cheaper and for ten acres it would get it done in half the time. Actually though there are some really good green planters out there too.
